Cloud consulting means getting expert help to plan, build and improve how your organisation uses cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud.

A cloud consultant helps you decide what to move to the cloud and why, designs the right architecture, plans the migration, sets up security and cost controls, and makes sure the environment supports your business goals. Some engagements cover only strategy. Others include hands-on implementation.

The aim is to use the cloud in a way that is secure, reliable and cost-effective, instead of moving systems across and dealing with the problems later.

There is no single price that makes sense for every organisation.

Cost depends on the size and complexity of your environment, the number of applications involved, whether you need strategy only or hands-on implementation, and which compliance requirements apply. Consulting is usually priced as a fixed fee for a defined project, an hourly or daily rate, or a monthly retainer for ongoing advice.

Consulting fees are separate from what you pay AWS, Azure or Google Cloud for the services you use. Good consulting often lowers that ongoing bill by designing the environment properly from the start. We would rather understand your environment first and quote for a clear scope than give you a headline price that changes later.

Cloud platforms work on a shared responsibility model. AWS, Azure and Google Cloud hold their own certifications for the infrastructure, but you remain responsible for how you configure and use their services. We map your requirements, whether that's India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, RBI and SEBI rules, PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) or SOC 2 (Service Organization Control 2), to the right cloud controls. For US clients in healthcare, that includes HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act).

We also consider where your data is stored. Some Indian regulations, such as RBI's rules for payment data, require certain data to stay in India. As an ISO 27001 certified company, we build these controls into the design rather than adding them afterwards.

Multi-cloud brings real benefits, such as using the best services from each platform and avoiding dependence on one vendor. But it also adds complexity. Cloud managed services run your cloud environment day to day after it's built. That includes monitoring, maintenance, patching, backups, security management, cost optimisation and support when something goes wrong.

Many organisations use both: consulting to get the environment right, then managed services to keep it running well. Others use consulting to build the environment and then run it with their own team.

A public cloud is shared infrastructure that a provider such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud runs, and many organisations use it. You pay for what you use and can scale up or down quickly, without buying hardware.

A private cloud is cloud infrastructure dedicated to one organisation. It can run in your own data centre or with a hosting partner. It gives you more control over the environment, which some organisations need for regulatory or performance reasons, but it costs more to build and maintain.

A hybrid cloud connects public cloud services with private cloud or on-premises systems, so workloads and data can move between them. Many organisations use hybrid cloud to keep sensitive systems on their own infrastructure while using the public cloud for everything else.

You can buy cloud services directly from AWS or Azure, and many organisations do. The platform gives you the tools, but it doesn't make the design decisions for you.

Those decisions carry most of the risk. You still have to decide which services to use, how to set up networks and access, how to secure your data, how to control costs and how to move your existing systems without disrupting the business. Mistakes in these areas cause most cloud security incidents and budget overruns.

A cloud consultant makes these decisions with you, using experience from many similar projects. You still pay the cloud platform for the services you use. Consulting partners can sometimes also help you access the platforms' migration funding or credit programmes.

Our support doesn't end when the last system moves across.

After migration, we stay closely involved for an initial stabilisation period. During that time, we monitor performance, fix issues as they appear and adjust the environment to how it actually behaves under real use. We also hand over full documentation of the environment to your team.

After that, you choose the level of support that suits you. Some clients move to our managed cloud services, where we run and monitor the environment day to day. Others manage it themselves and call on us for specific projects, reviews or cost optimisation.

Yes. Our cloud engineers hold certifications for the platforms they work on, including AWS and Microsoft Azure.

You don't need to take our word for it. Both AWS and Microsoft issue certifications that you can check online through their verification systems, and we're happy to share the certification details of the engineers who will work on your project.

Certifications show that an engineer knows the platform. We back them with hands-on experience from real client environments, which is what matters most when something doesn't go to plan.

We do both. Strategy without implementation leaves your team with a report and the hardest part of the work still to do.

Our engagements can cover the full journey: assessing your environment, building the cloud strategy and architecture, and then carrying out the work. That includes setting up networks, security, identity and access, migrating workloads, and configuring monitoring and cost controls.

If your team wants to handle the implementation itself, we can also work in an advisory role, reviewing designs and guiding your team through the work. We agree the right model with you at the start.

We involve your team throughout the engagement, so they see how we design and build the environment and why we make each decision. When the work is complete, we hand over full documentation, including architecture diagrams, configurations, access details and step-by-step guides for common tasks. We also run handover sessions to walk your team through running the environment day to day.
